What is for Dinner?

What is for dinner in your house tonight? Today is my 7 year wedding anniversary, so I am making dinner for my husband since he is heading home from work! Here is the instructions on how to make it! So YUMMY!

4-6 raw chicken breasts, new potatoes, green beans (fresh or canned-really any green veggie would work. Broccoli is good, too). Arrange in 9×13 dish. Sprinkle with a packet of Italian dressing mix and then top with a melted stick of butter. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Enjoy!

  5. Thanks so much for the recipe! My husband and I loved it. I tweaked it a little bit, adding a fourth of a cup of olive oil and a package of fresh mushrooms :) ). Thanks again!

    • Did you use the olive oil in place of the butter or in addition to? I love the mushroom idea.

    • michele says:

Liz, mushrooms sound so good! Did you put them on top of the chicken? How did it turn out? Would you do it that way again?

  6. BraNdy says:

Using fresh green beans didn’t work. They needed to be cooked longer.

  7. I was thinkIng of making this into a freezer meal. Any ideas how to cook it if I’m going straight from freezer to oven?

  8. Casie says:

I have this in the oven now! Thanks!

  9. Angie says:

Making tonight and am so excited to bite into this dish. My son who hates veggies can’t even wait…he keeps asking me how long before it’s ready.

  10. jen h says:

going to try this one tonight!! :)

  11. Lisa S says:

Does anyone think I could make this in the crockpot? How many chicken breasts could I make? Want to make for company.

  12. Made this tonight, but instead of chicken, I used thin breakfast pork chops. It turned out great!

  13. I am making this tonight with broccoli and carrots instead of green beans! :) yum, thanks!

  14. I tried this last night. Quick, east, cheap and perfect. Thanks!

  15. My new go to dinner …quick, easy, delicious! Family loves it. Thank you so much!

  16. I never leave comments on stuff like this, but:

THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! We had brussel sprouts with ours. One of the BEST dinners I’ve ever had (and coming from parents who love to cook, that’s saying something). Will definitely be making this again!

  17. Courtney says:

Made this recipe for the first time tonight and family absolutely loved it! Thanks

  18. Jennifer says:

I used red potatoes and one hour was not enough. Turned up to 375 and cooked for another 45 mins!!!! Maybe will try russet potatoes next time!!

  19. jo-ann ros says:

I would love to try this, but am not in the USA and am not sure what italian dressing mix is…can you describe it so I can try find an equivalent here in netherlands. Is it a powder and is it just italian herbs?! thx

  20. Brittany says:

Did you use the dry italian seasoning mix, or one with oil & vinegar & spices?

  21. It looks great however I’m cooking it now as we speak! But it’s been 2 hours and its still not done!
I’ve had to take the foil off under jack the temp up to 450 just to try and get it done!! Still waiting! Brand new oven!! What’s wrong??

    • danielle says:

I had the same problem i found that if you cut the chicken up in smaller portions it cooks faster

  22. Caroline says:

Made this tonight and it was good!! The veggies were amazing. I’m s single mom cooking for myself and a 8 and 10 y/o so I used 1 can of drained green beans and 5 red potatoes cut in 4ths. Half the seasoning pack, half a stick of butter, and two nice sized chicken breasts. The thicker part if of the breasts were a bit bland and dry. Next time I might try pounding the breasts out a little. Any other suggestions for getting the flavor through the chicken would be helpful,

  23. Wendy says:

Fantastic meal!!! A chicken soo moist. it was a hit with everyone!!!

  24. tommi says:

do you drain the can of green beans first?

  25. Samantha says:

I want to make this tonight for dinner. But I just have 1 question.. Is the chicken supposed to be un thawed first before it goes in the pan? Or do you just put frozen chicken is the pan?

  26. Jamie says:

WONDERFUL!!! I made this tonight and it was delicious, and sooo easy!! I substituted the chicken with pork chops and added fresh garlic; just add 10 minutes to the time and voila!

  27. Bianca B. says:

Making this now smells so good!

  28. Made this tonight, very disappointed. The potatoes were very hard after 80 minutes of cooking and an additional 10 in the microwave. The beans and chicken were okay :-/

  29. Tiffany Smith says:

Made this tonight and it was fantastic! I used frozen green beans….It did take over an hour for the potatoes to cook, but it was well worth the wait. I think next time I am going to try asparagus either in addition to or in place of the green beans, and I may leave a few lemons cut in half in the casserole dish too! It was loved by the whole family! I would love some nutritional info on this dish, it seemed pretty healthy, looked like most of the butter was still in the pan. Thanks so much for sharing this yummy and easy recipe!

  30. Sharon says:

Tried it and my family loved it!

  31. if you prep ahead of time, dont do potatos untill your ready to put in over! they turn brown ahead of time ! other then that we loved it

  32. Candee says:

This turned out really good! And it was sooooo easy to prepare and bake :-) I used frozen grean beans with the red potatoes and they were delicious!

  33. April says:

Just made this and finished eating. Turned out perfect! I added mushrooms, soooo good! I’m not sure why some people had a problem with the cook time. I used thawed chicken breasts, and baby red potatoes cut into quarters, the canned green beans, and it was perfectly done and delish after 1 hour at 350.

  34. I made this for dinner and we all loved it. When I made it the second time, I substituted 1/2 C. low sodium chicken broth for the butter and it was still delicious! Thanks for sharing such a great recipe.

  35. Courtney says:

Made this tonight and it was super delicious! I used fresh green beans. I read in previous comments after I put it in the oven that some people needed much longer to cook. I turned up the temp to 400 after 45 minutes and when I checked it at 1 hour everything was perfect! I would love to know if there’s something that I can substitute for the butter though…I’m trying to make things healthier around here and a stick of butter, though soooo good, kind of defeats the purpose of my healthy meal!
